Final Poster Design

Reflection notes
I have created advertising material for a poster about an emo and goth festival. The first thing i made was a logo which people would recognise as a grey bat with white eyes with a night in the dark near it. Then I made a poster which was the main set task. The web banner was the last thing I made which works well and is the closest to the design. I made each of these with things the target audience would like in mind such as darkness, mist or fog etc without making it seeming like something that is advertising something for Halloween.
I created each part by creating designs to follow, a mood board including things people would find appealing in that audience and a mind map to gather ideas to pick the festival. I used illustrator to create the bat using the pen tool to create the vector. I then took the vector and put it onto a Photoshop document. I tried to create a poster that looked as close as the design as possible by referring back to the design sheet. Once the vector was there I added around it to create the poster or whatever i was making.
I think it works for the target audience as it has a dark and bright colour pallet which is appealing to them as it is mostly dark. The bat should appeal to them as they are supposedly creepy creatures that only come out at night. The title is appealing to them since they like the dark and things associated with death. Anything that a person who isn't an emo or a goth would consider spooky or scary someone in the target audience would like.
I like the work but it could be improved. For example the cut out of the person used for the silhouette could have been much neater. I like how well the bat came out and the inner glow could have worked well to make the bat stand out. The custom brush also works well since it is based of the my chemical romance font which is a well known emo band. the fog on the web banner came out really well especially since there was already a brush stroke from illustrator there.
